October 17, 2009 the Winchester Downtown
Events Committee will host a NEW event on the Square in Downtown
Winchester. Named "A Taste of Autumn" this event will be FREE to
the public. All day and into the evening, festivities are
planned for the entire family.

Beginning at 10 AM all children
grade 6 and under are invited to join in the Halloween
Costume Parade. The Parade route will begin on
the sidewalk alongside Regions Bank and proceed around three
sides of the Courthouse. Parade walkers will end
their walk participating in a judged Costume Contest on the
stage, Jefferson
Street side of
the square.

Later in the day, a Pet
Costume Contest will
be held on the same stage. For the entire event, the Jefferson
Street side of the
courthouse will be closed to vehicle traffic allowing
for Karaoke, Live Music and a Harvest Moon Street Dance
ending at 9
PM.
A People's Choice Chili
Cook-Off will highlight the noon hour.
"I'm
going to be dressed in an orange jumpsuit, cooking my Jail-House
Chili"

Executive Director, WDPC.
Bill is one of the ten
contestants participating in the Cook-Off. Jail-House,
Fire-House and Hobo Chili are some of the entrants. All ten chili
recipes will
be "named" and their cook-off teams will be in costume
representing the name of their chili. Judging will begin at
Noon and end at 2 PM. To be a Judge anyone not entered in the
contest can purchase 10 tickets/$5. Winners will be announced
at 2:30 PM. First place - $150.00, Second place $100.00, Third
place $75.00.
