A Taste of Summer Visited
Downtown Winchester
On Saturday, August 8th, 2009,
from Noon until 6 pm downtown Winchester merchants and vendors
featured free food, refreshments and entertainment along with
special sales, free drawings and great back to school prices
during the Tennessee sales tax holiday.
Bands performing included Cowbell
Thunder, the Senior Citizens' Guys and Gals Jug Band, Mountain
Melodies Gospel, Sparky and the Gang, Regina Roarke, Wayne and
the Stump Jumpers, Rex Mise and the Hoedowns, Floyd Burton and
Friends, Jerry Ogle and George Van Goeder.
There were displays of hand
crafted wooden boats, antique farming tools, balloon animals for
kids, face painting and more.
Free treats and eats included
watermelon slices, ice cream cones, popcorn and more.

MORE EVENTS TO COME—These
men, are three of many, who hope to bring more activity to
Winchester’s downtown area, and recently the downtown
merchants and Winchester Downtown Program Corporation
collaborated to put together the
Taste of Greece
dinner held at 2nd Avenue Café. According to the Executive
Director of WDPC, Bill Cowan (center) it was a “huge
success” and many more similar events are scheduled in the
